In my almost 20-year career as a social scientist, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless coaching clients and my local Texas community in many capacities!
While individual 1:1 trauma coaching and 1:1 intensive day retreats are my main focus, I also lend my expertise to trauma-informed workshops and trainings on mental and emotional wellness for groups, businesses, and organizations.
I proudly provide legal consulting, including expert analysis and testimony, for legal cases involving mental health, minority issues, abuse, domestic violence, trauma, and gender-based violence.
I am also often asked to speak about important topics I specialize in like women’s issues, gender identity and sexuality, narcissistic abuse and coercive control, domestic violence and abuse, and spiritual and religious abuse.

“Over the years I have seen my share—or perhaps more than my share—of counselors, therapists and similar practitioners. Emma Church has been my favorite. She was extremely personable and warm. From the beginning, things were comfortable. We seemed to skip the awkward phase at the beginning of therapy and move right into connection. Best of all, Dr. Church eliminates the power dynamics that too often plague traditional behavioral and mental health practitioners. Hers is a space of warmth, collaboration, and empowerment. Not cold, clinical, strictures of “the learned Doctor” and the “infirmed patient”. I came to Dr. Church through word of mouth, because friends were praising their therapeutic experiences with her, and I wish to do the same. If you’re looking for an empowering partner along your journey, you have found her.”
While I open my practice to individuals from all walks of life, I specialize in holistic trauma and abuse recovery. My experience spans many types of traumatic experiences, including unresolved childhood trauma, spiritual/religious trauma and deconstruction, domestic violence, sexual abuse and assault, narcissistic abuse (coercive control), generational trauma, and sudden traumatic events or crises.
Together, we can make sense of what has happened to you and heal the collateral damage of your trauma. We’ll break down and rebuild each dimension of your identity to find your most aligned and authentic self.
Do you live in or near the Waco, Texas metro area? Then I’m happy to welcome you to my private, nurturing, and comfortable coaching space!
In-person coaching clients get the unique experience of face-to-face trauma coaching—including optional wellness modalities like reiki, sound bath healing, somatics, hypnotism, and more. While many of these perks can also be experienced virtually, in-person appointments can be truly magical and moving for both myself and my clients!
A 2-hour+ in-depth personal consultation is best-suited for clients who want to take a “deep dive” into a particular mental health topic or concern.
The goal of a personal consultation is to get the client from problem to plan in one intensive session.
Examples of past personal consultation topics include:
Similar to a personal consultation, 1:1 healing day retreats are designed to help you jumpstart your journmey to better mental and spiritual wellness.
Individual day-long retreats are typically conducted in-person, however virtual options are available!
In-person retreats include intention setting for the retreat, an intensive consultation to analyze current mental health and trauma history, a nutritious shared lunch, and a wide variety of healing modalities, including reiki, sound bath, hypnosis, guided meditation, journaling, and more.
In order to book a full-day retreat, you must have at least one coaching session prior to your retreat so that Dr. Church can determine the best healing modalities to use for your personalized plan.

No, as a coach and consultant I do not diagnose or provide therapy. Therefore, my services are considered elective and not covered by insurance.
For those with financial need, there are a few sliding scale spots available. Please let me know prior to our first appointment if affordability is an issue for you. I strive to make mental healthcare as accessible as possible.
Psychotherapy focuses on mental and emotional processing of the past, stabilizing mental health, and reducing symptoms. It utilizes a pathology-based diagnostic system that assists patients in obtaining functionality in their current life circumstances.
Trauma Recovery Coaching is much more holistic, addressing the entire individual in their complexity. Coaching sessions focus on the present and future, drawing relevant data from an individual’s past as needed to help them discover and understand who they are today. And why!
Coaching utilizes client-coach co-created objectives and teaches an individual how to move forward into a future that better aligns with their unique goals and desires.

Depending on your goals, availability, and financial resources, we can establish a rhythm that works best for you. Because of the nature of my work, it is often best to meet frequently, especially at the beginning of your healing journey.
Many individuals will meet with me once a week in order to engage a quicker trajectory towards their goals. This cadence builds momentum and can lead to substantial breakthroughs in a short period of time. Weekly sessions are ideal for those experiencing life-changing and acute traumas, like the loss of a loved one or a traumatic incident, like sexual assault.
Clients also often choose an every- other-week format which offers more space for reflection and application of learning between sessions. This can be perfect for clients who feel like they take more time to absorb and process what we discuss in coaching sessions.
For individuals wanting a slower-paced experience, once a month sessions are available. However, at this pace, you can expect a longer duration of time to see results.
The time-frame varies depending on a wide range of factors:
Some individuals utilize an In-depth 1:1 Personal Consultation to obtain quick answers to a specific question and require only one or two sessions.
Others see me to focus on one goal and continue on after they have reached it. They see results, feel understood and validated, and continue on their healing journey to address other concerns in our coaching sessions.
Clients stay with me for weeks, months, and even years to accomplish their goals and build the life they desire.
You, as the client, are completely in charge of how long you would like to continue coaching.
